This meeting is being held by the Arlington East Falls Church Civic Association and anyone is welcome to attend. October 17 at 7 pm Tuckahoe Elementary - Multipurpose Room Tuesday Night - Monthly TLHCA Meeting & Schools Discussion School Board member Reid Goldstein will attend TLHCA's monthly meeting to provide an update on Reed school construction, Swanson plans, and high school boundaries. Main meeting at 7:00 and school discussion starting at 7:30. October 18 at 7 pm Trinity Presbyterian Church - Lewis Room (2nd floor in rear) *Enter via the small parking lot off of Inglewood St. Boundary refinements for Washington-Lee, Yorktown and Wakefield are being considered. Currently Tara-Leeway Heights is split between W&L and Yorktown. Should this be changed? Check out the online boundary refinement tool. Community Events and Announcements Lost Dog Seen in Our Area! Echo is a shy rescue dog, black with tan and white markings lost in Alexandria, VA. Please follow but don't chase her as she will run away. She has recently been seen in our neighborhood! If you see her, DO NOT approach or call to her; instead TAKE PICTURE, call 703-825-0620 and keep eyes on her until owners get there. "Missing Middle" Housing Gallery October 25 What's the future of housing in Arlington's neighborhoods? Join AHS and the Lee Highway Alliance to see designs that could provide much-needed housing options for empty-nesters and retirees, young people starting families, and others trying to find a way to stay affordably in our community. Greater Westover Studio Tour October 29-30 North Arlington artists open their workspaces to the public for a weekend for the First Annual Greater Westover Studio Tour. Visitors will enjoy a behind-the-scenes view of the artistic process while getting started on holiday shopping or collecting affordable original works of art. 2016-2017 Civic Association Support: A New Year, New Dues! TLHCA Meeting with School Board Member Reid Goldstein

Join your neighbors next Tuesday October 18 for a special discussion with Arlington School Board member Reid Goldstein at our monthly civic association meeting. 

The meeting starts at 7:00 with some brief standard business, and Mr. Goldstein will begin around 7:30. He will give an update and answer your questions on major issues facing our neighborhood schools: plans for Reed Elementary construction, Swanson's overcrowding, and high school boundary updates.

The meeting will be held in Trinity Presbyterian's upstairs Lewis Room, which is accessed easiest via the small rear parking lot off of Inglewood.

Snowblowers available from the County Help Clear Neighborhood Snow this Season! TLHCA is seeking a group of volunteers who would be willing to manage a snowblower on behalf of the civic association for the 2016-17 winter season. If interested please email TLHCAPresident@gmail.com by Sunday October 2. See County's announcement below for more information. The Department of Parks and Recreation lends a limited number of snow blowers to civic associations and community groups, increasing the number of passable sidewalks during snow events. Our goal is to ensure snow blowers are geographically distributed throughout the county. Snow blowers are loaned to groups who agree to plow for the public good and who meet specific criteria. Upcoming Events Sept. 18 - Ice Cream Social Sept. 20 - TLHCA Board Meeting Westover Garden Apartments Update After the recent demolition of several garden apartment buildings in Westover to make room for new townhomes, the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) is stepping in to purchase several buildings and plans to keep rents affordable for these buildings into the future. The purchase will require a loan from Arlington's Affordable Housing Investment Fund (AHIF), which will need to be approved by the County Board at its meeting later this month. The County's Historic Affairs and Landmark Review Board (HALRB) is also considering whether to place the Westover neighborhood into a local historic district. The historic district proposal does not impact any property in the Tara-Leeway Heights Civic Association boundaries. For more information visit the County's Westover Neighborhood Study page. Civic Association Meeting: schools and crime

Tara-Leeway Heights CA is taking the summer off, but everyone is invited to attend our neighboring CA Highland Park-Overlee Knolls (HP-OK) this Thursday. See below for more info.

HP-OK's general membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, July 14, at Resurrection Lutheran Church (6201 Washington Blvd. -- Room 13). 

Please join us to learn more about recent car break-ins in our area and safety tips from the ACPD as well as the School Board's plans for converting Reed School to an elementary school. Also, we will elect new HP-OK leaders.
