Lee Highway Community Visioning Charrette November 6 - 9, 2015 Langston-Brown Community Center 2121 N Culpeper Street View map Lee Highway residents, business owners, stakeholders and community members are invited to help create a vision for the future of the Lee Highway corridor. Led by nationally and locally recognized consulting team, the community workshops will be held in a "charrette" style format with hands-on design participation and engaging conversations. Join us all four days Friday, November 6 Charrette Kick-off 6 - 8 p.m. Get introduced to the project and meet the design team. Saturday, November 7 Community Hands-on Design Session 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Work alongside your neighbors to draw your vision for the future of the Lee Highway corridor. Sunday, November 8 Design Studio Walk-through 3 - 5 p.m. Drop by the temporary design studio to check on the work-in-progress. If you missed the session on Saturday, this will also be a second chance to participate in the hands-on design exercise. Monday, November 9 Wrap-up Open House 7 - 9 p.m. See work completed during the previous few days and get an overview of the draft recommendations. Download the event flyer in English or Spanish. The Lee Highway civic engagement effort is a unique partnership between Arlington County and the Lee Highway Alliance to provide support for a local, grassroots, community planning initiative. We are going digital a few times per year to get more information out to our neighborhood. Please share this newsletter with neighbors so we can update our email and membership lists. - The TLHCA Board 2015-2016 Civic Association Dues Thank you to all of those who have paid dues to the TLHCA for the 2015-2016 year, which began in May. Dues are $10.00 per year. If you have not yet paid your dues, please click on the link below to pay via PayPal. Dues payments can also be sent to PO Box 50022, Arlington, VA 22205.   Pay Dues with PayPal Monthly TLHCA Meetings All community members are welcome to attend TLHCA's board meetings, generally on the third Tuesday of the month at Westover Library's community room at 7pm. Upcoming Events See the Tara-Leeway Heights website more information on these events soon: Oct. 31 - Halloween Party with Greater Westover Group civic associations Nov. 17 - TLHCA Board Meeting Virginia Hospital Center Expansion The Arlington County Board has approved a non-binding letter of intent with Virginia Hospital Center to sell 5 acres of land north of the hospital (the Edison Complex) to VHC for potential future expansion. The TLHCA will participate in a task force in coming months and years to work with the hospital on plans for the expansion. See the County's news release for more information on the potential sale.  Patrick Henry Improvements Construction has begun on the Tara-Leeway Heights Neighborhood Conservation improvement along Patrick Henry Drive. This improvement, which involves making three intersections more pedestrian friendly, mitigating storm water runoff and attempts to reduce speeding especially at 18 St N., was approved by the County Board in 2011. All affected residents have been provided contact information regarding the project. See the County's website for information on the Neighborhood Conservation Program. Together we will collaborate on important county issues and hold joint social events such as our September Ice Cream Social. November TLHCA Meeting Notice: 11/17/15

The next TLHCA board meeting will be held on November 17, 2015 (NOTE CORRECTED DATE). The meeting will be held at the Children's School, which is attached to the Westover Library located at 1644 North McKinley Road.

Meetings are open to all community members.
